Introduction of Dali:
In Ancient time. Dali is a woman’s kingdom
The legend story about Avastilosvara became a local woman to rescue village people from a war in Ming dynasty. One day lots of robber and enemy come to the village try to start a war, a old lady carry a huge stone ,and the robber ask her why you carry so much, she answered: in the village, every young guy carries three times as mine, the robber scared about it, then run away.
Actually, in local village, you will see woman do lots of hard work in farmland; carry a lot of heavy things, you have to respect and admire woman there
Jizushan Mountain is the 5th most famous Buddist Mountain in China, is the buddha Gaye who gain enlightenment from, it is said this mountain was the place where Mahakasyapa, a senior disciple of Sakyamni, practiced Buddism. The Mountain is named for its chicken-foot-mountains ranges.
Shaxi in the historic Market Square of the old village of Sideng, a once vibrant staging post along the Tea and Horse Caravan Trail, which primarily channeled trade in tea, horses and other valuables between diverse ethnic groups residing along the eastern Himalayan riff beginning in the Tang Dynasty (618 – 907).
We have been taking students to the Bai minority village of Shaxi, located in Jianchuan County for rural home stays since 2001 for the School for International Training. In the process we encountered the Shaxi Rehabilitation Project, conducted by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich, who have been working since then to restore in a traditional way the decaying but beautiful Bai houses around the historic square of what was once a center of trade on the ancient tea and horse caravan route linking Southeast Asia Tibet and on to India. Shaxi lies just below the forest covered hills of Shibaoshan, famous for its Indian influenced rock hewn sculptures and its Buddhist temples that date from the time of the Nanzhao and Dali kingdoms (649-1053). After completing much of their work the Swiss are now leaving and Shaxi is becoming a new, if off-the-beaten track tourist destination, now a World Monuments site.
Shibao Mountain located in the northwest of Dali, contains Buddhist rock carvings and temples of over 1300 years old with, amongst others, images of the Bodhisattva Guanyin, and lady's produced organ. Local people often worship for pray for giving birth no pain delivery. They are art treasures of the Nanzhan Kingdom and the Dali Kingdom.
And we will visit the Center for Cultural Learning and Development in a courtyard structure we are renovating in the traditional style and conduct training sessions for local guides and interested residents in how Shaxi’s tourism may be managed in a sustainable way that will best benefit the local people. This building will serve as a testimony to Bai culture and, replete with a library, serve as a resource center for scholars of the Bai, the ancient Nanzhao Kingdom and We hope by increasing awareness of the local residents to avoid the type of mass tourism found in nearby Dali and Lijiang whose primary beneficiaries are outside entrepreneurs. We are also outlining a three day hiking trail connecting Shaxi with a smaller Bai mountain village, Mapingguan, and the temples of Shibaoshan

Volunteer Vacation - Kenya Voluntary and Community Development Project

Kenya Voluntary and Community Development Project

Kenya Volunteer Vacation

Volunteer in kenya with a community based orgarnization offering volunteers the opportunity to participate in short or long term voluntary work development and volunteer internship opportunities in western kenya. ...

The initiation for orphan's children program grew out as a result of an increase in the number of orphans in the villages the pathetic living condition due to lack of support once they loose their parents. The organization therefore identified, as a priority to start a child care program center to cater for the orphans and the vulnerable children from the 3 yrs to 12 yrs.
Supporting these children has been a great challenge and volunteers have lent an upper hand with the aim of creating opportunities where unprivileged children can have equal opportunity to grow.
Most of the time volunteers will be teaching English and assisting the kids with creative activities such as painting, drawing and dancing.
In addition to this, volunteers help in the kitchen preparing meals, and washing dishes and clothes.
volunteers story telling skills will be put to good use inspiring and motivating the children. In collaboration with other local partners, together in one spirit, and with your kind assistance, let us revive their hope by providing a healthy environment for a meaningful future life.
Your program begins upon arrival in Nairobi with a comprehensive orientation facilitated by our volunteer coordinator briefing volunteers a head of their participation to prepare them for any anticipated challenges. Volunteer Vacation - Sandiego Foundation of Nepal (SADFUN) Volunteers

Sandiego Foundation of Nepal (SADFUN) Volunteers

Nepal Volunteer Vacation

The "Sandiego Foundation of Nepal (SADFUN)" is a Non-Governmental Organization dedicated towards bringing awareness among the rural people regarding education, health, environment, and development-related issues....

How can you help?
Please consider joining with the people of Nepal to work toward this mission by donating to SADFUN and be a contributor in this social welfare program. Our programs are funded primarily by the generosity of individual donors like you. We invite you to share in our celebration of the spirit and strength of the Nepali people. Contributions to a specific program are considered to be contributions to our total mission; when particular projects are fully funded, additional donations will be used where needed most. Prior to SADFUN's involvement in education, very few girls in the rural areas attended school beyond the primary level. Today, parents are increasingly recognizing the importance of higher education for their daughters as well as their sons.

Here are some of the ways you can be a contributor in our effort:

Sponsoring a child in a village school - A $200 per year commitment, which will make a difference to an entire community. Your annual sponsorship pays for the child's school fees and supplies, as well as providing his/her school with much-needed classrooms, equipment and teacher training. You will receive information on your sponsored child, and annual progress reports on the changes you've helped bring about.
Sponsoring a women's group - A $350 per year commitment, which will provide training and seed money - for the 2 to 3 years, it will take your group to become self-sufficient. You will receive photos and reports on your group's activities, and have the opportunity to correspond with them.
Sponsoring a child in a private school in Kathmandu - Although we no longer accept new children into this program, from time to time we may be able to offer partial or full sponsorship, and we will be happy to share the stories of some of our children with you.
Here's what your contribution can do:

$35 provides a ventilated stove (chulo) for a poor family in Nepal. These stoves help improve people's health by reducing the amount of smoke taken into the lungs.

$40 buys a goat for a women's group member, which increases family income and women's assets.

$55 buys material for a latrine. With community contributions of labor and materials, these latrines promote community ownership of the means for improved public health and sanitation.

$80 provides a 10 day training for a village-level health educator. This health educator then shares information about basic first aid, sanitation, family planning, and nutrition with all in the village.

$100 buys a water tap for several families to share. This reduces the work-load of women who often have to walk up to two hours a day to fetch water for their families.

With larger amounts of money, you or a group of friends, can sponsor a women's group, or children either in Kathmandu-based private schools or in village schools. Nepal is an enigmatic and wonderful country and is famous for the Himalayas, the jungles and its intriguing mix of many different people and hill tribes. In order to make your stay in Nepal as interesting and unforgettable as possible, you can go trekking and enjoy much of the amazing sceneries apart from your teaching job.

The small amount, say, the amount you normally expect to spend in your weekend may mean quite a lot for the poor people here, where the per capita income is 200 dollars.
Besides monetary donation you can help by other means as well such as – you may send second hand clothes for the people and other stationeries such as pen, note books, pencils for the school children.

Whatever you might have heard about Nepal, it's probably going to be different, even from what you personally expect. Living in Nepal is not living in western territories, food is different and customs and conducts in any case. Be ready for the new, open up your mind, bring frankness and patience. And lot of films of course...

If there are still questions about topics that are not mentioned or not entirely explained, then there is no reason to hesitate and send your questions and comments.

Tanzania Volunteer Vacation

Give a Heart To Africa is a small NGO in Moshi, Tanzania and our aim is to empower women via education and assisting them with starting up their own business. We rely solely on volunteers to run our school so we truly appreciate your help....

Volunteer with women in Tanzania
Our volunteers teach English, computers or business to primarily adult women. Currently we have 38 students, half of whom have only primary education. We have developed lesson plans and translators in each class so volunteers do not have to have any prior experience. We also conduct home visits every Friday. We visit 2 of our students in their home, meet their family, chat... and find out how best to help them in the future. It makes for a wonderful cultural exchange for both our students and our volunteers
Our volunteers teach from 9am to 12pm Monday to Thursday. We offer our students extra help Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon. On Monday and Thursday afternoon we teach ABCs to local children and play games with them. After school, volunteers are free to go to town, use the internet, do some shopping...
